In Need of a Savior

There are always going to be times when social networking goes bizerk. Could be over the latest thing, or a poilitical issue. Right now, its about marriage. Should gay marraige be legal? Should it be between a man and a woman? Does it even matter?
Actually, it does. But this post isn't a rant about my political views.

I think there is a much deeper issue behind all of the junk we see posted on facebook and twitter. The fact of the matter is this: Sin is sin. My lying or gossiping is just as much sin as anything else. People get so caught up in their opinion and their self-righteousness that they completely miss the point. Myself included. It's very easy to have the tendency to put up a wall and block out any other points of view that aren't perfectly in sync with our own. What would happen if people graciously and loving listened to what other had to say? What if, instead of slamming, we tried to show homosexuals the loving freedom and grace found in Jesus? These people are desperately lost. They need a savior. And the extremely sad truth is that their eternity will be Hell if they don't change now.
I don't think that debating and arguing with them is going to change their mind. But showing them the freedom of Christ might impact them more than any words can say. Be open to other views. You don't have to agree with them. I don't. But as followers of Christ we are called to LOVE others. These people are precious children in the eyes of our Creator. How dare we treat them like anything less than that! How can we rep Jesus' name, if we can't live like He has called us to?
